The rule
Every guest of the house must be 18 or over. The rule covers the dining room, the casino room and the verandah, and it applies at every hour. It is applied to every guest in the same manner, whether the person is a stranger or a regular of many years.
Identification at the door
Any guest may be asked to show identification at the door, and anyone who appears to be under 25 almost certainly will be. A current driver licence, a passport or a recognised proof-of-age card is accepted, provided it carries a photograph and a date of birth. Photographs of documents on a telephone cannot be accepted.
The reasons
The casino room imitates the games of a full casino, and we consider those games to be adult entertainment, even though no money is involved. The dining room shares the building, the hours and the company, and a single rule for the whole house is fairer and easier to explain than two different ones.
No exceptions
No exception is made for a guest who is accompanied by a parent, who is only visiting for dinner or who is about to turn eighteen. Staff are not permitted to relax the rule, and the host and the floor manager will not do so either. We apologise in advance to anyone who is disappointed.
Nothing online
When this website asks a visitor to confirm that they are 18 or over, the question is a courtesy, answered by a button and remembered in the visitor's browser. It is not a check. The real check is made in person at the door, because nothing is played online and the website offers no game of any kind.
If you are refused
A guest who is refused admission may ask to speak to the floor manager, who will explain the decision and review it politely. The decision will stand if identification cannot be produced, but there will be no argument, and the guest is welcome to return with the proper documents on another evening.
